Pilibhit: Based on the directions of the Superintendent of Police, officials of the Hazara police station have registered a case in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a Dalit woman in trans-Sharda region recently. Earlier, the Station Officer had refused to take any action on the issue.

According to the husband of the 18-year-old victim, who lives on the roadside along the way to Nahrosa, the woman had gone to answer the call of nature around 8 pm when three farmers allegedly abducted her on their bike and raped her on a sugarcane field. Later, the accused dropped her back and allegedly threatened her at gunpoint to not reveal the incident to anyone. On learning about the incident, her husband accompanied her to the police station to lodge a complaint. However, Station Officer Indra Kumar allegedly refused to register a case in this regard. Hence, the couple approached Superintendent of Police Muniraj Jee and ASP V K Vaidya following which the former directed the police to take necessary action.

The ASP told TOI that based on the orders of the SP, the Hazara police have registered a case against three farmers. While one of the accused was identified as Dikkar Singh, a local resident, the other two remain unidentified.
