Why Red Lipstick Rocks! – Nina sangma

Nina Nam

When I wear red lipstick I feel power coursing through my veins. It’s like my armour, my weapon of choice. My weapon of mass destruction. Nothing says ‘Look but you cannot touch’ like a smear of red lipstick.

Vermilion, candy, crimson, blood, colours that speak louder than any bling on your finger. Wear red lipstick and walk into a room. You’ll automatically own it. They might judge you but they’ll be intimidated by you. They might call you a scarlet woman but they’ll grudgingly envy you for the confidence you exude.

Nothing like red lipstick to say ‘I am woman. Hear me roar’. Maybe it’s time Indian girls start wearing red lipstick to work and to clubs. No more hiding behind muted taupes and dull browns, no more being apologetic for being a woman.

Wear red lipstick if you want to know what its like to be an iconoclast. Wear it when you want to scream without raising your voice.

Red Lips

Too long have we been hiding behind our veils. Too long have we been hiding our true selves. Time to see red.

For all those boys who think red lipstick is a come on, it’s a warning. Easy on the eyes but lethal on the brain. Before you think of your cheesy one liners think for a second if you can handle a woman who wears red lipstick? Will you be OK if she is the center of everyone’s attention? Are you happy playing second fiddle in her life? Are you OK not being the center of her universe? Read the fine print and then invest cause it ain’t easy dealing with a honey in red lipstick.
